Leg Day

Beginning Leg Day

I absolutely love training legs. There’s something about it that makes me feel strong and it's easy for me to see progress quickly. If you’re not quite sure where to start on a leg day, this is the post for you! I’ve gone through some of the most basic leg exercises that are included in almost all of my workouts and provided a few tips for you guys that will help you get the most out of every rep.

*     Squats: keep back straight, neck neutral and feet a little wider than shoulder width apart

*      Sumo Squats: wider stance, targets the glutes more

*      Jumping Squats

*      Deadlifts: keep back flat, neck neutral and try to bend at the hips and push back

*      Box Deadlifts: allow you to get deeper

*      Single Leg Deadlifts: good for balance and making sure your legs have equal strength

*      Short Lunges: target your quads, keep both legs at 90°

*      Long Lunges: target your glutes, push up through the front leg

*      Good Mornings: target the hamstrings, bend at the hips and bush back

*      Curtsey Lunges: keep low and tap the back foot, try to keep your weight in front

*      Leg Press: feet shoulder width apart

*      Leg Extensions: bring the weight up with two legs and let it down with one to hit the quads

*      Burnouts: calf raises, shuffles, lunge complex (long lunge, long lunge, short lunge, squat, short lunge)

  1. Leg days are my favorite too! These are some great workouts and you gave great visuals, explanations, and tips. The burnouts at the end of your workout looked hard, but it's definitely something I will need to try. I'll look forward to your next blog post about arm workouts, I've always hated working out my noodle arms and I feel like I never see much progress.

    1. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I never enjoy working out my arms either, but after I do it I feel better because I know it's something I should be doing. :) The progress can be slow, but as long as you stay consistent, change will happen!
